My Thoughts -This is a book everyone should read. It doesn't matter your political beliefs or where you are from. It's very uplifting and wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all get along and actually have world peace? It shows ways we can improve ourselves and our communities. When I first received the book I was a little skeptical. Oh yeah, another feel good book. I'll leave it on the coffee table to occasionally flip through when I'm feeling down. When I was finished reading it, I had a completely different view. Sure I'll still keep it on my coffee table for company to see but now I have a list of people I feel NEED this book. It shows you how to hash out your problems and how to make people more positive in general. Very positive book, one that I will be going back to a lot. This book is so good I recommend keeping it on the back of the toilet for hubby to find!

Momover: The New Mom's Guide to Getting It Together (even if you never had it in the first place)

by Dana Wood
mom·over (noun): mashup of "mom" and "makeover" minus the pressure to look like a total babe 24/7. (Unless that's what the mama wants, of course.) Holistic; encompasses mind, body and spirit. Nudges her to take primo care of herself, with zero guilt & tons of support. Beneficial to entire family.

Bring our your inner Momshell!

Okay, so every day since the baby was born has been a dirty sweats/no mascara/bad hair day kind of day. You don't need your mother to tell you it's time to lose that just-home-from-the-hospital-look before it sticks forever. You've got Dana Wood, patron saint of stylish new moms everywhere, to show you how to take world-class care of yourself -- drumroll please -- after the baby's born, and beyond!

In this sensibly chic guide, Wood reveals the secrets of surviving the emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges that emerge in that bleary-eyed, sleep- and time-deprived first year. In the trademark Momover style popularized in her eponymous blog, she provides the motivation you need to hop off the new-mommy self-pity train, and get with a new and improved post-baby program. What's more, she proves that doing it right by yourself is just another way of doing right by your baby.

mom·over: Because centered, happy you = centered, happy baby!

My review - I feel every new mom needs this book! Even though I've been a mom for awhile I learned a lot and was reminded of some things. Dana's mantra is Burn the sweatpants! I'm 100% in favor of that (I wear yoga pants lol)

The Undervalued Self Review & 3 book giveaway!

Elaine Aron follows up her bestsellers on the highly sensitive person with a groundbreaking new book on the undervalued self. She explains that self-esteem results from having a healthy balance of love and power in our lives. Readers will learn to incorporate love into situations that seem to require power and deal with power struggles that mask themselves as issues of love. From the bedroom to the boardroom, her strategies will enable us to escape feelings of shame, defeat, and depression; dissolve relationship hostility; and become our best selves.

I was surprised as to how much I learned from this book.
I've always suffered from slight self esteem issues but I assume most women do.
There were a lot of hints to help me along and change my way of thinking.

The Man from Saigon Book Review

It's 1967, and Susan Gifford is one of the first female correspondents on assignment in Saigon, dedicated to her job and passionately in love with an American TV reporter. Son is a Vietnamese photographer anxious to get his work into the American press. Together they cover every aspect of the war from combat missions to the workings of field hospitals. Then one November morning, narrowly escaping death during an ambush, Susan and Son find themselves the prisoners of three Vietcong soldiers who have been separated from their unit.

Now, under constant threat from American air strikes, helpless in the hands of the enemy, they face the daily hardships of the jungle together. As time passes, the bond between Susan and Son deepens, and it becomes increasingly difficult for Son to harbor the secret that could have profound consequences for them both.
Marti Leimbach's decriptions take you straight into the heat of the Vietnam jungles. The book deals with the changing roles of women in the 1960's, the insanity of war, the contrasts between cultures, and the complexity of human relationships. Highly Recommend!
